What Is Boundary Town and Who Is Required to Take It?

Boundary Town is an online course approved by the Utah State Board of Education to fulfil the mandate outlined in Utah’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Law. Many employers in health organizations, police departments, after-school recreation, and youth sports also require those working with children to be trained.

Boundary Town is Required in Utah if:

The training is beneficial to any adult working with youth in Utah. This includes stay at home parents, and grandparents too.
  • You are a teacher in Utah’s public and charter schools.
  • You coach a team at one of Utah’s schools.
  • You are a principal, vice principal, or someone who does administrative work.
  • You are a school counselor, social worker, psychologist or other school professional.
  • You are a substitute teacher.
  • You are a staff member for K-12 schools.
  • Your employer requires it.

Boundary Town May Be Required in Utah if:

  • You teach dance, art or music, in an after school setting.
  • You coach a team for club sports or your city’s recreation department.
  • You are a clergy member or church volunteer that works directly with children.
  • You tutor children outside of school.
  • You volunteer as a leader of a scouting troop.
  • You work at a preschool.
